That's right, we were in St George this past weekend. No, not to run the marathon (yeah right!!) and not to join my family in a big General Conference gathering either (many of them were up at the cabin in the snow.) We went down there to hijack a mattress set (well--my parents did offer it to us because it is just too soft and comfy for my mom's back. And since we have been in the market for a king-size bed for a few years now, we accepted.) We drove down on Thursday night towing my dad's trailer. Does anyone realize what shoddy gas-mileage one gets while towing? And the trailer was totally empty on the way there...boo.
On Friday morning, Heidi and Max drove up from Las Vegas to play with us for the weekend and we spent the day running errands at Target and TJ Maxx, trying hopelessly to get our kids to nap, swimming, playing with the wonderful SG house toys and relishing in tons of Daddy time, hunting for golf balls, eating Pizza Factory pizza and then making Heid watch old episodes of Ugly Betty once the kids were in bed :)
PJ party with little cousin Max
Silly playtime with Daddio, Ballerina Barbie, Optimus Prime and Star Scream
Cares absolutely loved Max's Bumbo and sat in it a lot
Hunting for golf balls--and boy were they successful...
they found 7 balls!

On Saturday--a rainy and very cool day--we mostly just hung out and enjoyed General Conference (in part because the kids did give in to naps--yay!) We also loved cuddling and playing with Max--he is a bona fide source of entertainment for my kids. When the rainstorms broke, hubby and I took the kids out in the crisp air for a golf cart ride--but our poor little cart ran out of batteries at the bottom of the hill on our way home. It had a tiny bit of juice and went about 1 mile an hour on its own so the "men" pushed us the rest of the way home. It was very sweet how eager Bean was to help :) In the evening, once Joseph was home from Priesthood session, we watched the movie Ironman and ate tons of yummy cinnamon rolls--thanks Heid, they were delicious!
As far as Conference goes, it was as uplifting and wonderful as ever. I was touched by many stories and testimonies as well as motivated to do better, try harder and enjoy it all as life unfolds day to day. One talk that really hit me was Elder Ballard's. He began by sharing a general history of the church and how much the early saints had to sacrifice. But even through the trials and hardships the church and its members endured, the church as a whole prospered and grew at an incredible rate. He eventually related the tasks and sacrifices of those early members to those that we have as modern day members. It was worded eloquently, of course, so I will wait for the written transcripts online so I can copy them word for word. I just felt like the things he conveyed as our current responsibilities were things I needed to hear and apply in my life. I was also happy to hear our prophet reminding us to enjoy where we are now and realize that it will all change too quickly--to appreciate today instead of always waiting for tomorrow. And I really loved how solidly our leaders enforced modesty and virtue and things that are of good worth in a world that is so wishy washy and misleading in these areas. I am so grateful for the nourishment of the good word and for the amazingly tender yet powerful teacher the Holy Ghost is--we are so blessed to have a prophet and modern day revelation.

What a fun trip. It reminds me of 'watching' Conference up at Snowbird when we were kids.
Cares looks awesome in the Bumbo! Fun that you could play with Heidi and Max over the great Conference weekend.
ha ha I loved Cares obsession with the Bumbo. And how sweet is Beans helping push the golf cart?! I love your fam Care and we were so glad to spend some time with you!
sisi likes the bumbo too. boo on the trailer too costing a ton more gas but a cool bed is awesome to have. So, I like your conference comments too. Thanks for sharing.
We missed being with you, but were glad for you to be with Heidi and to get the bed. Great pictures of the week-end, such cute babes! Darling Bentley helping out, and cute Cres has finally learned how to give very charming smiles. Funny that she loved the bumbo! Conference was wonderful, again, always.
You made me homesick for Kara.
