"Cry Baby Cry" Movies

Just a few weeks ago, while Joseph and Bentley were away at the Fathers and Sons outing, I watched a darling movie, PS I Love You. So, I don't know if I was just lonely that night or the story really got to me or what, but I cried through most of the movie. I have to admit that it felt good--I always love a good cry when it has nothing to do with real life :) It got me thinking about all of my favorite "cry movies." I then did the logical, or obsessive, thing and made a list. Here are my top 10:

10. A River Runs Through It 1992
9. Braveheart 1995
8. My Life 1993
7. Beaches 1988
6. La Vita Bella 1997
5. My Girl 1991
4. Steel Magnolias 1989
3. Shadowlands 1993
2. Last of the Mohicans 1992
1. What Dreams May Come 1998

Two that almost made the list:
In America
Shawshank Redemption

Did I miss any? I think it's kind of silly that when I look over this list I get seriously antsy to see these movies, especially my number 1 pick. Am I just a sucker for sad movies? I think this list includes several of my plain old all time favorite movies too...

Care- I just watched PS I love you a few days ago and there were two parts where I totally cried too. However I didn't really like the movie. Well just the whole Harry Connick part was way random and weird to me.

Anyway, those are good cry movies. Let's hang out and watch them all. I must admit when I was in JR high and saw Titanic THREE times in the movie theater, I totally bawled each time. I don't think I would so much anymore, ha ha.

I love good cry movies. I have shed several tears over some of the movies in your list, especially Beautiful Life...I couldn't control the sobbing. That movie was on a couple months ago but I just couldn't handle that much sadness so I didn't watch it. I have only seen Million Dollar Baby once but wow, that was a tear jerker. The movie I saw recently that really touched me and had me in tears many times was Emma (the story of the prophet's wife). To endure as much as she did could only have been asked of by an elect lady.
I haven't seen Finding Neverland but I know I need to. That was a good recommendation by Stacey...

Love your picks. Totally agree with Shadowlands, Vita Bella, and What dreams may come (LOVE that one, and I dont' like Robin Williams so that is saying a lot). Shawshank would have made my top too... I'll have to think of more.

And thanks for the reminder about Shadowlands the other day at teeball Brittany--I do love that movie :)

I just thought of another movie that makes me cry- A Little Princess. At the end when her dad remembers her, I always cry.

I agree with Heidi...A Little Princess is such a good movie and I always cry (at the part where the two girls wake up to food and a decorated room and then when her dad remembers her). Oh, I can't wait to share that movie with Maddie.

How could I forget A Little Princess?? Gets me every single time right at the end..."Sarah!" Oh I have chills thinking about it :)

Kica--Cold Mountain IS one fabulous movie. I don't remember crying as much as thinking I was suddenly in love with Jude Law! But it is a sad story...I need to watch that again. Here's to a girl's movie night right?!

Carrie--

Hello, old friend! It was nice to have you drop by our family blog. I have no idea how you made that leap, but it's always so cool to step-stone your way to the blog of someone you know from long ago, huh?

Anyway, it's great to catch up with you and your beautiful family via your blog. Sorry I didn't respond to your comment on my blog, I decided to just email you, and when I looked around your site for your address, of course I didn't find one. Anyway, nice to hear from you. Hope all is well (and it's great to see the link to another old friend here- Mark Thornley). Best to you and your fam.

Ryan
